Silk Shaded Donkey

This is part of my Royal school of needlework Diploma. You are required to silk shade (or thread paint) and animal or bird. I choose a Donkey. He is stitched on pale blue silk in single strand DMC threads. Silk Shading uses a stitch know as long and short. But his nose and eyes are stitched using tapestry shading stitch . The two stitches vary only on that silk shading follows the direction of the fur or feather . Tapestry shading follows the grain of the fabric.
